PULIGNY-MONTRACHET, Domaine Leflaive 2006
Domaine Leflaive is a really lovely wine that is impressively reserved out of the blocks. From the lower part of the slopes. Pale yellow. High tones mix with a faint oak note. The oak begins to fade as the aromas take on more depth – just a hint of sulfur on the nose. Light pale yellow. I get lots of cream on the nose. Lig htly floral. No sharp acidity poking out which lead me to guess a riper year. Frankly, this wine when tasted blind caught a few of us by surprise as the nose was very Riesling-like. The palate was clearly Chardonnay though.
